ACDF Architecture designed the offices of subscription-based entertainment company Playster, located in Montreal, Canada. The architects were commissioned to design its headquarters on Peel Street in downtown Montreal. To create an environment suited to the company’s high energy and creativity, ACDF Architecture transformed the space using a contemporary, open-concept design, that is complimented by a clever play of bright colours and white surfaces.
Making the most out of the original setting, the architects used the existing walls to create a variety of vibrant and new private spaces, thus saving resources and money. The architects suggested an exciting chromatic pattern that ultimately reinvents the 2,000-square-metre space. Reminiscent of the company’s logo, blocks of colour saturate the walls and vinyl carpets creating a strong visual impact, demarcating different zones in a fluid progression.
The colours encourage team gatherings in the open spaces and, as each team has its own colour, they stimulate a sense of belonging amongst the employees. ACDF’s flexible, open-plan workspace de- sign adapts to small-group work sessions as well, as it creates large, collaborative and creative atmospheres.
A white corridor balances out the strong identity of the colourful areas. The white corridor acts as a spine, connecting meeting rooms and link- ing the bright sections to one another. It functions as a place of respite from the lively vibe of the office. White PVC panels in the corridors define several breakout areas where employees can have a chat and rest from their busy schedules. Playster now enjoys flexible and stimulating offices, where creative work emerges from fruitful social interactions.
