Konya City Stadium, is designed with the approach of harmonising cultural codes with contemporary structures. The exterior of the structure is in white-green colours which symbolises the city’s football team.
Planning of the structure was based on UEFA criteria. The 42,000 seating capacity of the stadium is separated as the lower and the upper levels in the grandstand. The seating areas are called East, West, South and North. The football field is covered with artificial turf that’s heated from below based on FIFA and UEFA criteria.
The top part of this area is covered with a PVC roof which enables the arena to be used for different functions. The grandstands are reinforced with concrete, and the main structure of the roof and the facades are made of steel. Walls are covered with composite panels, and aluminum interlock systems; solar olimpic polycarbonate and tinted green glass is used in wall and roof coverings. Metal pans with a width of 30 cm and depth of 15 cm are used to create a canal which defines the forms, provides the drainage of roof and facade water, and hold the assemblies for the linear led lightning system. The concrete areas are made of brut concrete.
